Born at Saratoga Hospital in 1972, Matthew is fifth-Generation Saratogian. Eldest of Michael and Gail Veitch's five children, he is a 1990 graduate of Saratoga High School. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Teaching from Plattsburgh State University in 1994. Matthew also earned an Associate's Degree in Telecommunications in 2005 from Pace University in New York City. He lives on Casino Drive, with his wife Stephanie, and two Children-Jacob and David.
Matthew is currently employed by Verizon Telecommunications, Inc., and works as a manager in the Network Asset Management department. located in Albany. His job duties include managing approximately $1Billion in Verizon's fixed assets in The Wall Street district in Manhattan, as well as Nassau County, NY. Prior to his work in Asset Management, he was a Customer Service Administrator in the Troy, NY installation call center, where he was a member of CWA local 1118, and served as a Union Steward in that office.
Matthew comes from a long line of Veitch family members that have served the City. Matthew's grandfather, Donald, was the Executive Director of the City's Urban Renewal Project from 1965-1986. His father Michael was a teacher at SSHS for over 30 years. Kevin Veitch is the City's Code Enforcement Officer, and brothers Paul and Greg are City Police Officers. Matthew is currently the Secretary of the City's Zoning Board of Appeals, and also was a member of the Building Height Committee.
Matthew is dedicated to making the City a better place, and he is a member of several civic organizations:
